Want to learn pencil potraiture?
Have you ever thought of learning potraiture by yourself? If so, Lee hammonds "Drawing life like drawing" book is a boon. The book has everything a beginner should know about pencil sketching. She teaches basic shading to complex patterns in a very easy way. Worth for every penny . :)
My first watercolor
Inspired by Maniam selvam, one of the finest artist in South India, I wanted to make a try of his painting published in a local magazine.

Acrylic on paper
After a time consuming painting of an indian god, I thought to make a quick painting. Painting a cardinal bird is the first one in my to do list. I got a cardinal bird's photo( thanks- Google). I wanted my bird painting to look crisp, so i chose acrylic than watercolor. Acrylics will be more good on canvas, But i made a try on paper.
I first gave a slight yellowish tone to the branches at the back. After completing my bird, the yellow tone of the bird disturbed the look. I changed the color from yellow to brownish white
Vola !!! My painting is done :)
